What starts with music, ends with love .
Salim Assaf was born on December 22, 1979, in al-Warhaniyeh, Al Shouf, Lebanon. He attended the Lebanese University, Faculty of Hospitality and graduated with a BA in 2003. In addition, he holds a Diploma in Oud performance from the Lebanese National Conservatory, master’s in music for Film & TV from Berklee College of Music in Boston, and an MBA from Liverpool University.
His first musical appearance as a singer was in Simon Asmar’s talents program “Kaas Al Nojoum”, broadcasted on the LBCI (Lebanese Broadcasting Company International), in the late “Abdel-Halim Hafez” episode.
Assaf started his musical career in 2004, on a very strong note, by writing the lyrics to the song “Ghali Alayi” and composing the subsequent “Keef Badi Eysh” for Lebanese megastar Carole Samaha.
Salim’s career reached new heights when the industry formally recognizing his diverse accomplishments as a separate and unique entity in an otherwise formulaic and recycled environment.
Lebanese & Arab singers like Majida Al Roumi, Elissa, Nancy Ajram, Najwa Karam, Yara, Saber Rebai, Ramy Ayach, Sirine Abdelnour, Maya Diab, Diana Haddad, Ghassan Saliba, Ayman Zbib, Fares Karam and many others performed songs signed by Salim, that became popular hits in the Arab World.
Rawaida Attiah’s “Sho Sahel El Haki” song went on to garner Salim a Best Comprehensive Song Murex D’or Award 2010 and marked a fresh reinvention for the Syrian artist who also lent her voice on two more of Salim’s songs. After 2 years (2012) he got the same prize for his single for the Pop Star Ramy Ayach “Majnoun”, in addition to many renowned prizes and appreciation certificates from all over the Arab World.
His collaboration with SONY music was fruitful with “THE FIVE” team Runner-ups of X-Factor 2015. He was also the main producer who collaborated in creating KARIZMA, a three-girls team, as he wrote, composed and produced their debut song “Haga Gher”.
Most of Salim’s songs, whether by his voice or for artists, have been turned into music videos noted for dealing with topics of sensibility and social and cultural relevance.
Aside from having a successful song-writing career, Salim has launched another as a recorded artist, having released his first song, the wedding-themed ‘Serti Eli’ in 2011, written specifically for his own wedding. The song remains the most requested for weddings to this day. In 2012, he released his second song ‘Lawali Albi’ and in 2014 the songs ‘Mesh Khayef’, and ‘Eza fik.”
He is considered one of the most renowned Music producers for Film & TV Music, for series like “Kawalis El Madina”, “Wen Kenti” “Wlad El Balad” and others. In addition to music production for many renowned Commercial Ads for giant international companies like TOYOTA, ZEIN & PEPSI.
His Debut album was released in October 2016, including his voice-recorded works, in addition to two new singles “Mallayt” and “Mesh Khayef” that was shot as a music video and released in July 2017, with the American-Lebanese director Ruby Malek, after their successful collaboration in “Mesh Khayef” Music Video.
Assaf is the CEO and founder of Music Designers, a production company that caters to weddings, commercials, film, personal and corporate events, as well as writing, recording and producing music for TV ads, talent shows, albums, remixes, radio jingles, websites and much more.
